The Weather
Short one this week. That’s sort of the point.
In this newsletter: one bad day, no lesson, keep marching.
Friday I woke up wrong. Nothing happened, nothing was wrong, but the body was off, the head was off, and the whole day had this dark, shadowy feel to it. Disconnected. Like the shell I live in didn’t fit properly. The honest word for it is depressed. Not the condition. The weather. If you know the feeling, you know it. Happens sometimes. Part of this thing called life.
Maybe it was just one of those days. Or maybe it’s the bill for a year of holding things together, and this year has been a fucking ride, so the invoice wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t know which. I’ve stopped pretending I need to.
I wrote a while back about ceiling and floor. Friday wasn’t a ceiling and floor conversation. Friday was about staying in the building. I know the voice lies. I wrote a whole piece about it days ago. Knowing didn’t make Friday lighter. It just meant I didn’t have to believe everything the day was telling me. So I moved. Slowly, badly, but I moved. Yesterday I drove up to Mashatu with a client, had some great conversations and got back to work, and the day did what days do when you don’t feed them. It passed.
If you’re in one of those days, keep marching. Not because marching fixes it. Because marching is how the day passes through you instead of moving in. And if the dark day has become dark weeks, that’s not a marching problem.
Talk to someone.
If you want to talk, I’m here. Email or WhatsApp. Seriously, get in touch. And if you know someone in one of these days, send it to them.
Otherwise, back next week.
Do good work.
G.
